Douglas Farrell, Managing Partner 

Douglas has over 15 years of professional experience and investment banking experience advising a diverse range of clients on over US$100 billion of completed mergers and acquisitions transactions in Australia & New Zealand, North America, Europe, North Asia and South East Asia. 

Prior to founding Quintet Partners, Douglas was Head of Mergers & Acquisitions and Real Estate Investment Banking for Citigroup in Australia & New Zealand. Douglas worked in investment banking roles at Lehman Brothers, Nomura Holdings, Citigroup and Deutsche Bank AG in Hong Kong and Australia. Before his career in investment banking, Douglas was an insolvency practitioner in Sydney.

Douglas is a qualified Chartered Accountant (ICAA), received B Commerce (Accounting) and B Applied Finance degrees from Macquarie University and attended Sydney Grammar School. 


Scott Perkins, Managing Director

Scott has over 15 years of professional experience in investment banking and corporate finance.

Prior to joining Quintet Partners, Scott spent over 14 years in Investment Banking at Citigroup in Sydney working primarily across the Infrastructure, Energy and Utility sectors. Before his career in investment banking, Scott worked within the Corporate Finance team at Ernst & Young.

Scott is a qualified Chartered Accountant (ICAA) and received a B Commerce degree (Accounting and Finance) from the University of New South Wales.

relevant experience includes:

  • Advising on over $6 billion of power generation and electricity network projects, including AGL’s acquisitions of Loy Yang A and Macquarie Generation and more recently on renewable and distributed generation assets / businesses such as the Dundonnell Wind Farm and Energy Developments;

  • Advising on over $6 billion of gas related infrastructure transactions including QIC’s acquisitions of the Iona gas storage facility, Moomba to Adelaide pipeline system and CKI’s acquisition of Envestra; and

  • Significant transactional experience in the road, rail, port and airport sectors including assisting clients prepare bids for assets such as WestConnex, Port of Newcastle, Queensland Rail and DP World.


Timothy Gonski, Associate

Timothy has principal investing, technology and commercial law experience. Prior to joining Quintet Partners, Timothy practiced as a corporate mergers and acquisitions lawyer, specialising in private equity transactions, at Herbert Smith Freehills. Timothy also worked as a judge’s associate for the Honourable Justice Annabelle Bennett AO and was an intern at Investec Australia in the corporate advisory and property teams.

Timothy received a B Commerce (Accounting) and Laws (with Distinction and Honours) from the University of New South Wales.

relevant experience includes:

  • Assisting in advising on a range of private equity transactions in the healthcare and education sectors, including EQT’s sale of I-MED Radiology for $1.25 billion to Permira; and

  • Assisting in advising on public mergers and acquisition transactions in media and technology, including the potential merger between oOh!Media and APN Outdoor.


Benjamin Trollip, Associate

Benjamin has leveraged and acquisition finance experience in a number of sectors including home care, aged care, healthcare, manufacturing and tourism. Prior to joining Quintet Partners, Benjamin worked at ANZ as a member of the leveraged finance team, primarily supporting mid-market private equity sponsors with debt for leveraged buyouts. 

Benjamin received a Masters of Commerce (Finance) and B Economics (Economics) from the University of New South Wales.

relevant experience includes:

  • Assisting in financing the leveraged buy-outs of over $1 billion of mid-market and large cap acquisitions, including a number of health care businesses, consumer services and FMCG businesses; and

  • Assisting in over $500 million of recapitalisations and refinancings, including refinancing distressed assets. This included healthcare, data centre and consumer services assets.


Matthew Coffey, Analyst

Matthew has accounting and financial sponsors experience. Prior to joining Quintet Partners, Matthew worked at PwC in the Assurance and Financial Advisory divisions, primarily servicing Insurance and Private Equity clients.

Matthew received a B Business (Accounting, with Distinction) from the University of Technology, Sydney and is qualified as a Chartered Accountant (ICAA).

relevant experience includes:

  • Assisting with the consolidation accounting and reporting following a $30 billion global merger between ACE Insurance and Chubb Insurance.


Leonard Harlan, Senior Advisor

Leonard M. Harlan is a Senior Advisor of the Executive Committee of Castle Harlan, Inc. and a member of the Executive Committee of CHAMP, the Australian affiliate of Castle Harlan. Leonard is currently a chairman / director / committee member for a number of leading organisations based in Australia and the United States across a range of industries including education, healthcare, foreign affairs and finance.

Leonard is a graduate of Cornell University with a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Mr. Harlan has a Masters with Distinction and Doctorate from the Harvard Business School.


Matthew Anderson, Advisor

Matthew is a partner at Clayton Utz with over 25 years of Real Estate, Corporate/M&A and Funds Management experience.

Matthew received a B Economics and Laws (Hons) from the University of Sydney and a Masters of Applied Finance from Macquarie University.


Nicholas Gardner, Advisor

Nicholas has over 15 years of professional and investment management experience, having previously been an Executive Director of Institutional Equities at Morgan Stanley, in the Capital Markets team at Deutsche Bank and a Senior Analyst at Burdett Buckeridge Young in Sydney and Cazenove Group Plc in Sydney and London. 

Nicholas received a B Business (Finance) and Laws from the University of Technology, Sydney and attended the Scots College.
